Raffle Winner Announced

The raffle was for a set of 4 Decorative Plates designed by Bill Stokoe, the former Southern Pacific Signalman whose signal collection is on display at the depot.

The raffle was won by Don Sullivan in October of 2013. His job takes him to various places in the world and when he learned he had won, he was out of the country. On Saturday, July 26, he was finally able to visit the depot and collect his winnings.

In the small world department the cashier who sold him the raffle ticket, Sheryl Bovi, was also the cashier on duty on Saturday when Don came to the depot!

Don says he is "totally honored" to have the series of 4 Bill Stokoe Signal Plates and has become the newest member of Friends of the Tehachapi Depot.Website

The Greatest Show on Earth

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Train passed by the Tehachapi Depot on Monday evening, July 7. It was en route to Los Angeles where it opens on Wednesday evening at the StaplesCenter.

Some local residents turned out to watch and photograph the train from the viewing deck surrounding the depot. Afterwards some stayed to enjoy a picnic dinner, watching trains pass while enjoying a pleasant summer evening.Circus2

Tehachapi Depot gets a Train Order Signal

On Tuesday, June 17, 2014 the Train Order Signal was restored at the Historic Tehachapi Depot.

The TehachapiDepotRailroadMuseum, housed in the depot, is operated by the Non-Profit all volunteer organization Friends of the Tehachapi Depot (FOTD). A group of individuals, known as the Monday Morning Crew of FOTD, worked for the past several months to restore and place the Signal.

Thanks go to RST Crane Company of Tehachapi for donating their time and equipment for the placement of the signal and to the local Union Pacific Yard Office for providing flagging during the placement.
