3   Link   Depot fire trial scheduled to begin next week
Nov 3, 2009 - Tehachapi News. The case involving two men charged with burning down the Tehachapi train depot last summer may go to trial Nov. 9, according to the Kern County Superior Court. Brian O'Donnell and Jason Watson both rejected a plea deal at an Oct. 30 readiness hearing that would have offered a felony conviction and a maximum of three years in prison. Jeffrey Brodey, Watson's attorney, said the trial start date could be pushed back an additional week.

Sept 8, 2009 - Tehachapi News. Barring any further delays, the two men charged with burning down the Tehachapi Union Pacific train depot last summer will face a felony jury trial Sept. 28, according to the Kern County Superior Court.

Aug 27, 2009 - KERO-TV Bakersfield. Construction on the new Tehachapi Depot is underway and completion is scheduled sometime in November. Then Friends of the Tehachapi Depot will go in and set up the museum. The city said they hope to have the Depot open to the public before the end of the year.

Jan 30, 2009 - Tehachapi News. The architectural and engineering plans for rebuilding the historic 1904 Tehachapi Depot are almost complete. Based on the original floor plan from the archives at the Railroad Museum in Sacramento, the recreated building will occupy the exact same footprint on the Tehachapi Boulevard site, and to all but the most observant eye will be identical to the original structure.

In a preliminary hearing Sept. 26 at Superior Court East Kern Branch in Mojave, Judge John Oglesby concluded there is enough evidence on a felony charge of causing a structure fire to hold Jason Watson and Brian O'Donnell over for trial. He dismissed a misdemeanor charge of selling and using illegal fireworks, citing insufficient cause.
